“Do you know a good attorney for…?”

Good Attorney, PC, began decades ago when founder, Utah Attorney Aaron Drake was serving on active duty in the Air Force as a JAG military lawyer. As a Legal Assistance JAG, his clients would often ask, “Do you know a good attorney for…?”

Aaron determined that after his military career he would be that “Good Attorney” in his private law practice. Aaron has dedicated his professional life to being the attorney about whom clients and colleagues will happily say to anyone asking, “Yes, I know a good attorney for that!”

Aaron Drake and the Good Attorney Team offer services in five basic categories:
  • Expert consultation, technical writing, and training for attorneys handling military divorce
  • Direct consultation services with individual parties to military divorce
  • Trusted referrals to known “good attorneys” in family law, personal injury, estate planning, and criminal defense
  • Military divorce mediation and document preparation/filing for mediated divorces and retirement pay division orders
  • Direct representation in military and veteran law matters, including VA disability appeals, MEBs, PEBs, LODs, adverse actions, and more

WE HAVE YOU COVERED

Aaron is passionate about getting complex matters right for clients and he’s passionate about education. Not surprisingly then, he usually jumps at the chance to present or train in his areas of expertise.

We know that finding a truly “Good Attorney” can be a daunting task. We’re here to help with referrals to our professional colleagues whom we know to have similar values and practices to ours.

Did you know that spouses who take their divorce cases all the way through trial in Utah typically spend a minimum of $50,000 on legal fees and costs? It is not uncommon for parties in contested divorces to spend well over $100,000 in fees and costs, which typically comes from the marital estate. You’ve probably heard this before and we don’t mind repeating it—but in those situations, only the attorneys win.

There are some mandatory minimums an attorney should understand when assisting a military member or dependent spouse in a divorce--some legal, some military, and usually, both. If you want a Utah military divorce attorney who understands both, you want Utah Attorney Aaron Drake as your military divorce case consultant.

If you’ve ever attended one of Aaron’s CLEs, you know why his classes are typically titled with some variation on “Malpractice Minefield….”

Divorce is a complex matter.

Divorce involving federal retirement assets, including military reserve, active, or disability retirement; VA disability compensation; and/or federal civilian retirement, is an extremely complex matter.
